Montessori Teacher Training Course Syllabus
APTTI's Montessori syllabus covers Montessori philosophy, child psychology and the five areas of the 3–6 classroom: practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and cultural studies. The Certificate introduces these in 6 modules; the Diploma specialises in the apparatus and lesson design; the PG Diploma adds other preschool methods, lesson plans and case studies.
The five curriculum areas you will study
- Practical life: Care of self and the environment, grace and courtesy, preliminary exercises: pouring, spooning, dressing frames, sweeping.
- Sensorial: Pink tower, brown stair, red rods, knobbed cylinders, colour tablets, sound cylinders, geometric cabinet.
- Language: Spoken language, sound games, sandpaper letters, the movable alphabet, phonetic reading and writing.
- Mathematics: Number rods, sandpaper numerals, spindle boxes, golden beads and the decimal system, early operations.
- Cultural studies: Globes and puzzle maps, land and water forms, botany, zoology, simple science, art and music.

- Designing lessons for a Montessori class
- Assessment: module MCQs plus a lesson-planning assignment
PG Diploma in Montessori Teacher Training · 240 hours
- Montessori methodology studied extensively
- Other preschool methodologies, to understand Montessori in context
- Lesson plans for the Montessori classroom
- Case studies of children's learning and development
- Assessment: module MCQs plus written assignments and case work

Assessment
After enrolment you receive the course modules. Each module ends with multiple-choice questions (MCQs). A final assignment is reviewed by APTTI assessors within about ten days of submission; if parts need work, you are asked to revise and resubmit. The certificate is posted to you after successful completion.
